My Thoughts on making it illegal to: Hiring people on city sidewalks and in parking lots
(UNCONSTITUTIONAL)
How many ways can you find that this is unconstitutional? let me know if you can find one.
Where are we leading folks? It is illegal in the City of Las Vegas to hire anyone who is on the sidewalk or in a parking lot!!!
WHAT?
Can someone tell me what crime is being committed? How is someone being hurt directly by this so called "bad bad thing"?
I think it may have started as something toward the Hispanics and illegal's
hanging in parking lots around trying to drum up work.
I don't know! I am guessing.
Is this the approach we take towards catching illegal immigrants?
Or is this something we do to protect certain businesses who purchase rights to
work in the city in the form of business licenses Sounds like old Chicago style
bad mafia tactics when they strong armed people into buying "so called"
insurance so their business wouldn't be burned down.
Either way, the intent doesn't look good to me.
Because we end up citing the ones doing the hiring vs. the one who is being
hired because they can afford to pay the ticket.
So we are essentially saying "we aren't after the illegals, but this is what we're going to use as an excuse because people will bite on that idea.
This is NOT the way to catch illegals. I don't see the police at one of our local hardware stores when I go, but I sure see a bunch of people looking for work.
By the way, what if it was you or me out there needing a job to feed our
family or to pay the rent to keep a roof over their head?
Wouldn't you try to do everything you could to make money legally.
So, we would be guilty of trying to find a job the old fashioned way.
