Soloe For Nevada State Senate 2010

Thank You for visiting my website and hopefully joining my campaign here in the Senate District 10 of Las Vegas, Nevada.

Our district is a working class district that represent a wide range of folks. We are Hispanic, White, Black, Filipino, Asian, and just about all types of Nationalities.

We have about a 3.5 ratio of Democrats to Republicans, but never let that interfere with us being Americans first.

We are the oppressed who have to follow laws that others make.

Join my Senate race. Volunteer! Donate!

Please take the time to read some of my issues below and comment if you will.

On Government

It's like having to ask your gardener permission to walk in your garden. Government officials are the citizens servants, elected and paid to do the job of serving the public and defending our constitution. You shouldn't have to ask permission from your servant to do something that is a right, provided to you by the United States Constitution, and you shouldn't have to have the permission of the government to conduct your life in the manner you see fit that affects no other person(s).

The will of the people is the only legitimate foundation of any government, and to protect its free expression should be our first object.
Thomas Jefferson

Issue #1 Bill Of Rights

Bill of Rights! Too many politicians have no clue what this is when they make laws. It should be required that all politicians take at the very least a pop quiz so they have some understanding what it means to be an American.

Issue #2 The right to Bear Arms

Again, this is a constitutional right by the American People to bear arms. I stand firmly behind that right! We are Americans.

"Laws that forbid the carrying of arms . . . disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes . . . Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man."
--Thomas Jefferson, quoting Cesare Beccaria in On Crimes and Punishment (1764).

Issue #3  Vehicle Insurance

My idea is to create a state gas tax to replace mandatory statewide insurance.

Issue #4 Marijuana (Legalize it)

Letter to the Nevada Attorney Generals Office
In accordance with the Nevada State Constitution Article 4, section 38 1.The legislature shall provide by law for: (e) Authorization of appropriate methods for supply of the plant to patients authorized to use it.
"Appropriate methods" have not been met by the state and I as a citizen of Nevada challenge for a ruling from your office to the Dept. of Health and Human Services  resolve to follow the law and the constitution.

1. A bank or repository of seeds that may be used to grow marijuana by persons who use marijuana in accordance with the provisions of this chapter.

2. A program pursuant to which the Department may produce and deliver marijuana to persons who use marijuana in accordance with the provisions of this chapter.

My name is Billy Soloe, 505 S. 13th Street, Las Vegas, NV. 89101 702-408-2429.

Marijuana decriminalization or even outright legalization. Here is a prime example of where government has overstepped its bounds of governing the people. Where does it say in the constitution that the government should interfere in the private lives and decisions of individuals.

This prohibition has cost the American people billions of dollars as well as many honest, decent Americans being put behind bars like caged animals...we must stop this immediately.

Issue #5 Eliminate Property Tax

Property Tax! Eliminate it. When Americans buy a home or a piece of land, it should be theirs...not the governments if they don't pay a ransom for it every year to keep it. Once you buy something. it should be yours in my opinion.

Issue #6 Equal Metro Police Protection for the poor

Metro Las Vegas Police Department and why we need an inquiry/investigation?
More traffic stops are performed in our district  and surrounding areas more than anywhere else throughout Nevada!
We are scrutinized more because of our poverty and the location where we live more than other Americans who live in affluent areas.

Issue #7  Public  Education and its Demise

(Larger schools = Larger Problems) coming soon!
I support Home Schooling in Nevada

Issue #8 Removing Nevada State Felon ID Registration Card Requirements after 10 years of being a productive citizen!

This gives all of us a chance to remedy mistakes in our lives by encouraging all past convicted felons to become and to have the aspirations to do good. Right now, we punish those mistakes for life in the form of holding these mistakes against folks in preventing them from getting good jobs and housing.

Currently, we take all hope from them and give them no goals to work toward and the results speak for themselves. Society must provide hope for those with mistakes to be accepted by society.

Issue #9 Nevada citizen dividends at election time

I would like for you to think about this one for a minute. Think about how many Nevadans you know personally that do not vote at election time.

I would like to propose that we pay a $50 dividend from the state to each Nevada resident who votes at election time.

Why would you do that? someone asked me once. Well let's follow this. I know that the majority who vote control and make laws for the majority.

This would stop politicians from catering to such groups and organizations who they know historically vote for a certain candidate based on their views.

Which is not a bad thing, unless they are making laws that will hinder the rest of us in the majority who don't want that law but have to live with them because that politician knows a certain group doesn't vote and doesn't have to worry about the backlash at the polls.

So let's pay each Nevadan a state dividend that can be collected after they vote. The dividend will have nothing to do with party affiliation or how they vote, as long as they do. Sort of a reward for doing your civic duty.

After all, don't we pay people for jury duty? ( A civic duty)

We pay people who join the national guard and join our police and fire departments don't we? ( An argument can be made that this should be a civic duty)

While I am not suggesting we require you to vote or some kind of penalty would be imposed...hardly...I respect your right to NOT VOTE if you should desire not to. But then, your not spending gas money and time to go to the polls either, so you would not be paid.

But, on the same hand, I think there is an obligation by the government to serve the people and what better way to get the people's say by paying them for their service to our state by electing people to represent them.

We pay the people we elect! So why wouldn't we pay the people who elect them?

Say nothing of my religion. It is known to God and myself alone. Its evidence before the world is to be sought in my life: if it has been honest and dutiful to society the religion which has regulated it cannot be a bad one.
